Dr Tan Ching Yam’s Art Exhibition, 26 to 27 Jan 2008

Dr Tan will demonstrate his finger painting skills on Sun 27Jan 2008 from 12 noon to 2pm at the Seminar Room, Alexandra Hospital. 

Everyone knows that Chinese paintings are painted on the rice paper but Dr Tan has created his unique techniques to use the Chinese ink on canvas. Isnt this incredible?

Please drop in to share his experience. About 35 pieces of his works will be displayed and for sale. His paintings include Chinese Brush Painting, Finger Painting and Chinese Ink on canvas. Beautiful flowers and birds as well as the scenery of Alexandra Hospital will be exhibited. 

The Lunar New Year is round the corner. Please come to view his paintings and pick one or two of his works to decorate your home for the New Year celebration. Isnt this a good idea?

Chinese Ink painted on canvas. If you look at this painting, you will think that it is an oil painting. Chinese Ink on canvas is a new medium to Dr Tan. A special technique is required to paint.  

Look at the painting, there are three layers: front view, medium view and the background .In the centre of the painting, there are two persons walking towards the hospital. The buildings and the plants are well painted. Generally speaking, this painting looks good and in subdued pastel colours.

The painting is donw with the fingers, as well the calligraphy. 

This is an attractive finger painting done by Dr Tan Ching Yam. The painting looks simple. Only a cat is lying down on the ground. 

However, if you look at the eyes of the cat, you can see that it is on the alert. 

The Chinese calligraphy serves a useful purpose for the painting - it outlines the zen philosophy on how to be a happier person .

In short, you can learn a lot of things including the philosophy of life and the special techniques of finger painting from this painting.
