Finger painting dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907BC) and the art entered its golden period in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD).
Finger painting uses the fingers to paint instead of a paint brush. It covers all aspects of traditional Chinese painting, including landscapes, flowers and birds, and animals.
Materials used are the Chinese rice paper, Chinese ink and Chinese Watercolour.
The Chinese ink comprises of 5 tones. One can do a drawing by simply using the Chinese ink alone, or some modern artists/painters prefer to use the ink and watercolour.
Under the guidance of Dr. Tan Ching Yam, 5 adult students will showcase their work done in the past one year. Though, this is the only the beginning of their Chinese finger painting path, they hope to attract more people into this art of learning Chinese finger painting.
The public can also see some finger paintings art pieces by Dr. Tan.
